During Catholic Schools Week the Aquinas school community will be working on a service project to benefit St. Margaret of Cortona Transitional Housing. St Margaret of Cortona is operated by Catholic Charities and helps families with dependent children transition from homelessness to independent living. It is located in Woodbridge and provides important support to the adults such as case management, individual counseling, employment services and life skills classes. The children at the home enjoy their own age appropriate support and activities including school support, arts and crafts and peer time.
Our service project involves collecting arts and crafts items the center needs to facilitate arts and craft evenings for the parents and their children. The goal of these evenings is to foster positive, creative and healthy family interactions among the residents.
Items being collected include:
- watercolor pallets
- construction paper
- markers
- colored pencils
- scissors
- oil pastels
- pipe cleaners
There will be a decorated collection box in the school lobby area during Catholic Schools Week. Any contributions you can make towards the collection of the art supplies noted would be greatly appreciated!
