The Aquinas elementary program encompasses students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Students attend school from 8 AM to 3 PM each day; half days are 8 AM to Noon. Kindergarten through 4th grade are self contained classrooms while 5th grade is semi-departmentalized. Each Kindergarten classroom has a full-time instructional assistant while grades 1 – 5 have part-time instructional assistants.
The elementary grade levels have an integrated scope and sequence of curriculum in core subject areas and foreign language instruction begins in 1st grade and grades K – 2 participate in Library weekly. All students participate in the following specials at least one time per week: Art, Music, and PE. Our faith is an important part of our school day with daily school prayers and weekly school Mass and the Virtues in Practice program.
Aquinas uses a combination of textbooks, workbooks, and technology for daily school work always being mindful of screen time. Students are assigned a 1:1 device at the start of the school year for use in the classroom and at home. Kindergarten through 2nd grade students receive an iPad and 3rd through 5th grade students receive a Chromebook.
