Read Across Aquinas is Thursday, March 2nd. This event celebrates reading and fosters verbal enrichment for your children. It is also a celebration of Dr. Seuss’ birthday.
IMPORTANT: As part of the celebration, students in PreK-5th grade are permitted to come to school dressed as a storybook character–please ask students about the conversation in class of appropriate characters and appropriate attire. Middle school students are allowed to dress in spirit wear with crazy accessories.
On Thursday, Volunteer Parent Readers will come in to read to various classrooms between 8:30 and 9:30 AM. Additionally, the PTO is pleased to announce that author Jeanne Pettenati will visit grades K through 4 at 10:00AM and grades 5-8 at 1:45 PM. She will be dressed in Renaissance period costume and will present a program for the children concerning Galileo’s Catholic Faith, Science, & The Renaissance. Copies of her recent children’s books Galileo’s Journal and Arturo Takes a Bow (a story about the young Toscanini) will be available for purchase ($7 –in paperback) and signing by the author after her presentation. Please send cash or a check in with your child if you wish to purchase books. Parents are welcome to attend the performances.
Are you interested in further supporting this celebration? Consider donating books to the school library. Our Librarian Mrs. Judy Beda has prepared an Amazon book wish list as part of the Fill Our Library Bookshelves appeal. When you select and order the books that you would like to donate through our school Amazon Smile account, the school also receives an additional donation from Amazon!
